Who can use the site?
Anyone can browse and search recipes. Members (librarians and friends of the group) can add recipes, rate, comment, save favorites, make lists, and look up other members and their pets.
How do I become a member?
Sign up. Once your account is approved, you'll receive an email with a password link.
I didn't get my email.
Check your spam folder for mail from admin@thesaucylibrarian.com. Welcome links expire after 3 days. If yours has expired, use Forgot your password? to get a fresh one.
Can I edit someone else's recipe?
No. Only a recipe's author can edit it. If you spot a problem, leave a comment or let us know. Authors can't rate their own recipes, either.
How do I find a recipe?
Search from the home page or Recipes. Every word you type is matched against titles, ingredients, descriptions, tags and cooks' names, so “chicken lemon” finds recipes with both. On Recipes you can also filter by course, rating, cook and tags, or show only your favorites or your own recipes.
What are favorites and lists?
Tap the ♥ on any recipe to save it to your Favorites. Use + Add to list to build your own lists, like a potluck plan or holiday baking. Both live under Lists in the menu. Lists and favorites are private unless you choose “On my profile”.
How do I set up my profile and pets?
Go to Me, then Edit profile & pets. Add a picture, a tagline and a few words about yourself, and use + Add a pet for each furry (or scaly) friend. You can choose whether other members see your email address. Your display name has to be one nobody else here uses.
How do I invite a friend?
Use Invite a friend on the Members page. They get an email with a sign-up link that works once and lasts 14 days. You can have 5 invites waiting at a time.
How do I print a recipe?
Use the Print button on any recipe (the little printer). The printout has just the recipe: no site header, buttons or comments.
What's Gossip?
Our members-only message board. Start a topic from Gossip in the menu, and everyone posts under it. It isn't live chat, so reply whenever you like. A number next to Gossip, and a "new" badge on a topic, means there are posts you haven't read yet. Tap the ＋ under a post to react with an emoji, and hover over a reaction to see who used it. Search and sort the topic list from the top of the page. You can edit or delete your own posts, and admins keep things tidy.
